FSO = Hospitality = YOU

"Thanks to all our employees for NEVER settling for mediocrity. Your smile, your enthusiasm and your hard work is what makes my vision come alive at FSO."

Good Morning Folks,

It's Monday and a new day, new week and a whole new opportunity to do great things.

Today visiting Atlanta, like I do every day, I go on appointments and hear how the prospect thinks all outsourcing companies are the same. That's right, the market thinks we are the same! No way... The only thing we have in common with our competitors is the word “outsourcing.” Everything else is different! That difference is YOU, our folks! Yes, YOU the person on site and the person supporting the site.

Every site employee, YOU, are the FSO difference! Your commitment to service, to exceed the client expectations, to do just that little bit more, to be more professional, to have that better idea, to notice that detail, to take action when no one is watching. YOU make this company the best outsourcing provider in the business. YOU are the reason we have nothing in common with our competitors. YOU are the reason we have experienced Galactic Growth!

Thank YOU for doing the little things that make a big difference at our client sites and for supporting our client sites. Thank YOU for fueling the FSO passion. Thank YOU for waking up every day and realizing that today is a great day to serve our clients and stretch just a bit farther.

Yes we have work to do. But we are a less than four year old start up company that has taken the market by storm, yet has only just begun. The future is so so bright.

Make this Monday the beginning of the best week of your life, professionally and personally. Put your mind right and know that if you do the right things, great things will happen. The past is the past and cannot be changed. Today is a new day, go effect your future. Go impact tomorrow.

Tom Peters said the difference between a good and great manager is 5 minutes. That 5 minutes was the extra time spent getting things right, thinking through an opportunity, organizing, etc... Be great and take the 5 minutes to write the extra email, respond to that question better, think through that problem and make that one more call.

The love running throughout this company is infectious so… take it personally because FSO is about hospitality and hospitality begins with YOU!

Have a GREAT day as I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Hugs all around,

Creating Magical Experiences

“Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it they will want to come back and see you do it again and they will want to bring others with them”
~~Walt Disney

Good Morning Folks,

While the Weiners pursue our last two days of R&R in the Napa Valley, I leave you in the very capable hands of our Corporate Trainer Shalaine Adams, who is at a conference at Disney where, in addition to entertaining children, they also teach and train adults in the art of business hospitality which has become their hallmark.

Shalaine… over to you…..

Good morning FSO & Happy Thursday,

I hope you had a wonderful week so far!

I had the pleasure of attending the SHRM conference with Kim, Chelsea this week in Orlando Florida and boy, was it a blast!

Being in Orlando, you are surrounded by the magic of Disney. Over and over again it was mentioned in the advertisements, at restaurants and even at the conference:) You couldn't help being touched by it!

I'd like to bring you on a journey with me, back to when I was 7 years old. My grandparents took me to Disney world! I couldn't believe it, I was so excited and thrilled to be there surrounded by all of the princesses I'd seen on TV! My grandparents took me all around and when we we were on our last day, I was allowed to buy whatever I wanted at the Disney gift shop. I picked out a Minnie Mouse mug as I absolutely adored her. My grandparents bought it for me and I was so proud of my purchase! I picked it up off of the counter and Wham, it fell and shattered to pieces.

I was so sad as I thought that was the end but oh no, a cast member (as the Disney employees are affectionately called) came over, gave me a huge smile and said it’s ok, don’t cry look; she GAVE me another Minnie Mouse mug...just like that; free of charge. And although it was a long time ago, that is an experience I will never forget! I felt so special! Not only do I want to go back, I want to bring my future family with me!

At the SHRM conference, it was said that people may not remember what you say or how you say it, but they always remember how you make them feel!

It is us (You & I) creating a MAGICAL experience that keeps FSO at 98% client retention and it is that MAGICAL experience that enables us to become sticky and expand our service lines like we have with PWC, Capco & Y&R!

So I ask our FSO team, how does your clients feel after they leave your presence, is it magical; did you go above & beyond for them anticipating their needs?

How do your teams and peers feel, do you show that you care, are you a team player; do you make the experience a personal one?

Disney World is the happiest place on earth providing experiences that keep their guests coming back to visit over and over again!

We at FSO, stand poised to become the Happiest place to work; providing a Magical, Hospitality driven experience for everyone we come in contact with both our clients and our teams!

Let's do our part and make every moment count, our culture is Personal, Passionate & Productive! FSO is our Magic Kingdom, and we as the cast members make the Fire, Skip & twinkle come to life!

Wishing you a Magical day!

Let's Rock it!

Shalaine Adams
Corporate Trainer

MDW: Thank you Shalaine. I too was impressed with the Disney way and my encounter with one of their legacy pioneering hospitality champions. I blogged about him here.

If you ever have a chance to leave the kids behind and want a really unique experience and romantic Adult getaway for your next vacation, you really should consider a soiree in the Napa Valley. Like Disney, there is no place like it on earth.

From the wine and the food to the spa, shopping and more, you’ll become intimately drawn to Napa Valley. It is our greatest joy to share our knowledge and expertise of this majestic dreamscape, making it a landmark journey for the senses. In fact my wife has built a business around our love for Napa.

Experience Napa is the ultimate gateway to the intimate enclaves and best-kept Gems of Napa Valley. Check it out. I am always happy to share what I know so don't be shy with questions.

I will also be on the road quite a bit in July and excited to see all of you, your staff and our awesome Clients.

I am bringing back some great wine for our clients and for us.

Enjoy and stay in touch. Mitch. :-))

Kiss ME: It's My First Blogiversary. And We're Just Warming Up.

"Many of us we can remember a time in the not too distant past when we were hoping for a phone call that would be the answer to our prayers...a job offer...to end the drought of our unemployed status. Being jobless is often a desperate situation; especially with a family to support it can be a heavy weight to bear."

Good Morning Folks,

What a wild ride here at FSO Onsite Outsourcing last week: a cruise around Manhattan as a "thank you" to the employees for all their hard work; 2 new sites were launched/ WENT LIVE; our National Sales Team were in NYC for an awesome and productive day of strategy, and 3 promotions were announced.

Most importantly our galactic growth continues to fuel the creation of new jobs, put people back to work, and provide advancement opportunities for roles that traditionally had been glass ceilings.

I have never taken my eye off what drives a successful company – continued innovations, changing with the times and having the ability to be flexible, and retaining great talent. Key is paying attention to the things your customer wants! Your customer is the one who creates success, you just have to be there to capture it.

And such customer-centric thinking has surely paid off for us:
  • 100% Client Retention
  • Exemplary Customer Satisfaction Scores
  • Record Client Growth!
As we hit the midway point of 2014 we have a lot to be thankful for. So far 2014 has been a banner year for FSO across the USA!

I started this blog as a blank canvas 272 posts and twelve months ago, now with over 40,000 visits from 382 of the Fortune 500 leaders in Legal, Professional Services, Media, Financial Services, Building Management, Retail, Fashion  and Education.

I never pictured myself blogging or even being able to keep such a demanding commitment. But here I am and so glad I dipped in. Opines an Ted Keynoter that we shared with you last week, "employees, through social media, are changing how companies market to, and engage with, customers and prospects. Unauthentic sales pitches doesn’t work anymore. Instead, we are witnessing the rise of the social employee who creates a win/win proposition by leveraging their personal brands to build trust and increase the digital “surface area” of the brands for which they work."

MitchWeiner.com and our social media initiative have taken off beyond my wildest expectations. I would highly recommend that your brand follow suit.

Blogging has become one of the most fulfilling, worthwhile and personally gratifying endeavours of my career. You make it so.

Every day, people show up on these pages in search for something that motivates them. Things to get them out of bed, things to get them pumped up, things to help them make it through the day and so much more! The sense purpose and emotional compensation that comes from interacting with and helping others get pumped through social media transcends cash. That in mind...

I want to end this Monday's musing by sharing an excerpt from a touching email I received from an employee. Joe writes:
"Many of us we can remember a time in the not too distant past when we were hoping for a phone call that would be the answer to our prayers...a job offer...to end the drought of our unemployed status. Being jobless is often a desperate situation; especially with a family to support it can be a heavy weight to bear.

For many of our folks (myself included) FSO was that beacon of Hope. Each and every day WE as a company help change people's lives for the better. Through succession planning with FLP we make it possible to help our folks forge a career where prior to joining FSO no such opportunities existed.

Faith is the complete trust in someone or something. We prefer to call it "Sleep Easy"…It's confidence. The confidence our clients have in us, the confidence we have in our leaders.

Hope & Faith is what makes us the Greatest Outsourcing Company on the Planet. Together we will make Mitch's vision a reality…and continue his legacy long into the distance..
Joe's right: Each and every day WE as a company help change people's lives for the better. My legacy is to pay it forward so people like Joe who show up with FIRE>>SKIP>> and TWINKLE... can have the same opportunities I had against all odds, coming from challenging circumstances.

Because…. HAPPIER Employees deliver more PRODUCTIVE and PROFITABLE results.

And that's not only what makes us different, it makes us better.

Thank you for entrusting us with your business challenges. Thank you for your words of encouragement. Thank you for your support and readership of the blog and for taking time to write to me directly.

Have a GREAT day as I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

National Expansion; Future Leaders Promoted From Within And Other Thoughts For A Cold and Snowy Hump Day

Image: Forbes
"Matt has impressed me with his ability to dive in and learn the Records procedures and details of our system. When issues arise he consults me appropriately and together we resolve them. I look forward to further work with Matt. Thanks for hiring an experienced Records Manager who hit the ground running and brings a lot to the table."

Good Morning Folks

I hope you are all off to a WONDERFUL week so far.

I have been zipping across the country for the past few months and it has been wonderful to see our Personal, Passionate and Productive culture alive and kicking across the nation. Thank you to each and everyone of you for representing FSO with positive energy, smiles, amazing hospitality and customer service.

One of our 2014 goals is to have the most inspired, motivated and best trained employees in the industry. FSO is based on some very solid beliefs that are centered around building a career path for the passionate people who consistently do a great job for our clients.

Nothing is more important than having great people who care about the service they provide to our customers. Identifying and finding great people starts with knowing exactly what you are looking for - that fire in the belly, skip in the step and twinkle in the eye. Our Future Leaders must have the desire to grow and be a part of something amazing, something BIGGER.

Everyday the Executive Leadership Team are thinking about how we can further expand growth opportunities, career paths, incentives and success with us. I am so passionate about the FLP Program and promoting from within, I want to ensure those who have grown and flourished with us are given the first opportunity to move up in their careers with us.

Another top goal of our organization is ensuring that we launch each new site with an FSO EM or Lead -- at a minimum! In other words, we will not open an account without an FSO person. Our goal  of ensuring perfect implementations will only be achieved by having as many FSO employees go to new sites as possible, and we will backfill them with new FSO employees in their current site. Simply put, this provides the opportunity for growth & advancement for all FSO employees.

You know that I am personally invested and CARE about every person in our company. It is part of the personal touch we brings to our prospects and FSO clients. Did you know that hundreds of our corporate and field staff were uncovered and/or promoted through me alone! Pretty impressive and we’ll only get stronger and better with a well-oiled FLP.

There are 2 ways for existing FSO employees to become a part of the FLP:
If YOU are a top performing employee, you have the fire, skip, twinkle, AND you are interested in being a part of the FLP (which will likely require leaving your current site), speak up! Call me or Denise directly and let us know you want to grow your career with FSO!  We want to hear from you to fulfill your dreams!
If you are an EM, EAD, ED, RD, or a member of the PS or ELT and you know an employee who has the fire, skip, twinkle AND they are interested in growing their career with FSO, call me or Denise directly!
If this sounds incredible and impressive to the forgotten hourly employees stuck in dead-end jobs elsewhere, and the kind of career path and commitment you would like to be assured in return for your investment working hard every day, please send your resume to Kshepherd (at) fso-outsourcing.com.

I am personally committed to (re)IMAGING our FLP to enhance the FSO Employee Experience.

I’m only one person and know I can’t do it alone. I need your knowledge, expertise and experience.

We are family & it’s all about TEAM WORK!

Have a GREAT Day. Love Life.

I'll be a seeing you soon.

==> InspireME Friday: Ask For A Reference, Not A Job

"And by letting them know that you hold them in high enough esteem to potentially use them as a reference, you're actually paying them a compliment."

Good Morning Folks,

I can say that FSO has taken the industry by storm! Literally and figuratively.

We made it through another week of the worst winter weather on record, and what troopers the team at FSO are. A client writes:

"I just wanted to send you a quick note regarding the FSO Team. They have made every effort to get into the office regardless of the adverse weather conditions we have been experiencing this winter. Charles, Harun, Gene and Kathy have made my job easier as I know they will always be in the office when I cannot get there. Knowing that they are always there to support me to make the office run smoothly has been extremely helpful. I just wanted to take this opportunity to “sing their praises”.

That's what we call going the extra smile. It comes standard with every engagement!

With operations in 57 major US cities and a clear focus on concierge service, our goal remains the same - to help firms improve operations & SAVE MONEY.

Now some inspiration for those seeking a job or a better job— there's an easy way to turn dreaded employment networking into deadly effective bonding:

When you're networking, ask for a reference, not a job.

Whether you're doing catch-up drinks or grabbing lunch to reconnect (and, hopefully, staying out of this horrible heat!), your main goal is to get an ally, not a tally of job listings. Adding another helping hand to your search is your aim.

So don't ask your college buddy if he knows of any jobs for people like you. How would he?

And don't ask your boss from two jobs ago if she has the names of any people who are currently looking to hire somebody like you. It puts her on the spot.

No, instead, ask for a reference. Mention that you're going to be moving on, or you're already looking, or that you're actively out on the street. Let them know the type of positions you are and are notsuited for, and what you're hoping to achieve in your next opportunity.

And then ask them if — when it gets to that happy place in your search — it would be OK to use them as a reference.

By not putting them on the spot about specific job openings, you reduce the awkwardness inherent in the networking conversation.

And by letting them know that you hold them in high enough esteem to potentially use them as a reference, you're actually paying them a compliment.

You're also making it easier for them to say "yes", and to feel good about themselves for being a good friend and helping you out with this little favor.

All of which means that you have a new buddy in your search — one who's going to be thinking about keeping an eye out for new opportunities and an ear open for fresh possibilities for their reference-able friend: you.

It's wins and grins all around.

Now, this doesn't work for just any old person you meet on the street. There's probably a pretty good match between people you'd take to lunch and those you could ask to be a reference. So my advice would be to stick to asking those you know well enough.

Being realistic, the widely offered and deeply wrong advice from the past decade that you should try to extract favors, concessions, names, jobs, and career assistance from people you've only met over the phone is not only useless, it can be counter-productive to your aims by antagonizing your broader network.

By making your networking about compliments, you'll find it pays dividends.

Never lose that skip in your step, fire in your belly or twinkle in your eye!

We're on fire and this company is doing amazing things to build for the future.

From our wonderful FSO Family have a GREAT weekend, be happy and… Love Life!

Why Isn't Anyone Reading Your Resume? Your LinkUP To Job Search Success

"As a trusted business partner and friend I am seeking your recommendations of highly motivated people who are looking for a new opportunity and bright future in the field of Human Resources.. ASAP"

Good Morning Folks,

Sorry to hear about the continued snow and cold around the USA. I myself had some major delays last night and had about 3.5 hours of sleep but I'm inspired and totally on fire.

Since FSO is conducting a nationwide job search for marketing and HR talent, and it's been too long between LinkUps— I thought I would share more broadly some of the career advice that I have been posting recently on LinkedIn.

It's not you: Why no one's reading your resume
Why isn't anyone reading your resume? Here are some ways to navigate recruiters' Applicant Tracking Systems and get yourself noticed.

Spending on Corporate Training Soars: Employee Capabilities a Priority
Corporate training is always a very good indicator of economic activity:  when companies slow down they often cut training spending, and then as business grows they ramp back up to train new hires, sales people, and leaders. This is among the most discretionary of all corporate spending areas, so it is an excellent bellwether for business confidence.

If I Had a Hammer
The automation of today and the future requires a (re)IMAGINED approach to job search and preparation

The Basics of Not Bombing and Interview
It doesn’t matter if you have 20 years of experience and a letter of recommendation from the president of the United States — if you bomb the interview, you’re not getting hired. Here’s what you need to consider

8 Tips To Dress For Interview Success
Struggling to decide on an outfit for your upcoming job interview? What you wear to an interview creates an image or perception of the type of person you are, so choosing your attire is critical to presenting yourself as the right candidate to hire.

These are the 50 best places to work for 2014

6 Habits of Remarkably Likable People
Hiring Managers cite the number one reason in competitive races for one position, it's the Likability factor or as better known in singing competitions the "X" factor that decides.

5 Steps to Writing an Amazing LinkedIn Recommendation
Beyond what you provide a recruiter, they will go to your LinkedIn page to do reference checks. Are yours in order and the best they can be. The time to ask for recommendations is when you are ion your game not the day after you've been swept up in an unexpected restructuring that can happen to anyone.

Should you or someone you know of make a GREAT fit for FSO's Personal, Passionate & Productive culture, please contact me directly (mweiner at fso-outsourcing.com) or send resumes to Lindsay Gallagher (lgallagher at fso-outsourcing.com).

When it comes to delivering our services, our people are the driving force in making the difference. Our goal has always been to ensure that the staff we have are so passionate and are armed with the tools and knowledge to succeed in their ultimate career and life goals.

Have a GREAT Day. Love Life.

FSO Onsite Outsourcing Enhances Employee Experience with Launch of New Online Training Programs

"If there's one thing that FSO lives and breathes every day, it's the Employee Experience. We focus on motivating and driving the hourly employee to deliver great service with a skip in the step, twinkle in the eye and fire in the belly."

Good Morning Friends,

I'm proud to announce the launch of new monthly online training programs.

Geared towards basic management, the trainings will target the company's Mail & Logistics Associates, Facilities Managers, Records Associates, Copy Operators, Informationalists (Receptionists) and more who serve FSO's growing list of clients, which include: Financial Companies, High End Real Estate Organizations, Media & Publishing Companies, Law Firms and Higher Education Institutions.

Commenting on the program, my colleague, Kimberly Shephard, SVP of People Solutions (HR) noted, "Our online trainings will have a new subject every month. To reinforce the trainings, FSO will be scheduling follow up sessions to support the material and answer any questions their staff may have. The first topic of the online trainings launched this week was "Leadership Defined".

"Culture" Is What Happens When No One Is Looking

"My own leadership style
to inspire others to greatness."

BTW, We are HIRING! And holding an open house at our New York office on Tuesday and Wednesday. Details HERE.

Good Morning Folks,

Over the weekend we made some new friends and they were curious what it is I do for a living.

"Outsourcing, you have an office in India," they queried.

I answered, "Onsite outsourcing is the business practice of hiring “experts” to manage on your behalf, the people, process and technology associated with non-core business functions. The business benefits are plentiful and most simply stated; this business model allows companies and firms to focus on their core, revenue-generating activities."

After I explained that companies and firms outsource for management oversight, service Issues or cost, our new friends asked, "We understand that, but what makes FSO great— better at delivering this service than all of the competition?

I thought hard how to answer that simply.

I told them that we are personified by our unique corporate culture which in a nutshell is what happens when no one is looking.

Ultimately it’s the people and their passion that drives our success.

I went on to tell our new friends that FSO is building great leaders to make our great organization even greater.

Our high standards- striving for perfection and pursuit of excellence revolve around what we refer to as out 3 'p's:
  • Personal
  • Productive
  • Passionate
When I think about our rapid growth consider every account we've brought on in the past three years is an account someone else had. There is a reason we were brought on- and it goes beyond being then better product at better price than anyone else.

From the newest hire to inspiring our current staff we are focusing on what really counts— being The HAPPIEST Place To Work on Earth.
And that's not only what makes us different, it makes us better.

Have a GREAT day as I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
