At FSO, hospitality is the DNA of our success and our team truly embodies what it is to be hospitable.

Hospitality combines drive, resourcefulness, and charisma with skill. It’s that twinkle in the eye, skip in the step, and fire in the belly that makes our people different from any of our competitors’ from day one.

Many of our associates come from positions of service where they eat, sleep, and breathe hospitality for years before joining FSO. They exude a positive attitude, energy, and cater-to-the-customer commitment.

But, our commitment to ensuring we have the most hospitable teammates doesn't end with the hire. Top industry training, incentives, rewards, recognition, and a TRUE career path sit at the heart of our company culture of service.

One example of our training and development initiatives is FISH. FISH philosophy was inspired by the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, WA, world famous for its incredible energy and commitment to customer service. 

They designed 4 basic principles that help bring new energy and commitment to the work place:  Play, Be There, Choose Your Attitude, and Make Their Day. We have tied this into our FSO culture of hospitality, service and being the Happiest Place to Work.  It’s about providing great service, building a culture where employees are committed to their company and job, resulting in effective leaders and improved teamwork. 

I recently shared an article on social media, "The 6 Traits All Top Candidates Have," outlining a wish list tailor made for hiring hospitality teammates. Several of the traits include:

==> Drive 
This is a broad characteristic that could actually encompass other favorable traits. However, drive will boil down to one thing: is the candidate hungry for success?

==> Excellent Communication
Skilled candidates for any open position must be able to communicate things in a timely, understandable manner. In other words, you want a candidate that can walk the walk when it comes to talking the talk!

==> Tough Skin
No job is smooth sailing, everyone has had to weather a storm. When the going gets tough, would your candidates get going or brace themselves for the worst?

==> Resourcefulness 
No job is perfect and it will come with limited resources. Resourceful candidates can make do with what they have and ask for help when necessary since they know that their success is the company’s success.

==> A Moral Compass
Top candidates will always make sure to do the right thing and have a strong sense of ethics. 

==> Willingness to Learn 
Times change, and candidates must be willing and able to learn and adapt and  in order to keep up with the changing times.
