Inspire ME Friday: Find Your Passion, Create Your Focus, And Success Will Follow.

"Success depends on focus. Focus depends on passion. Find your passion, create your focus, and success will follow."

Good Morning Folks,

A client sends this morning's inspirational message to share:

==> Get Inspired: Find Your Passion, Create Your Focus, And Success Will Follow
by Ton De Graaf

Just watched the October 19th special event, filmed live at the Apple campus in Cupertino, California where Apple celebrated Steve's life. What a legacy that man leaves behind, just awesome. From a business and executive coach's perspective (yep, that's me) a few thoughts:

Only great leaders create great companies. Great leaders will challenge and inspire their people in their quest for excellence. People will only experience a feeling of pride when they worked hard for their success. If success comes easily, overnight, without too much effort, pride will not enter the equation.

The quest for excellence never stops and is all around. In every piece of packaging. Every swipe of the finger. Every "How can I help you?"

Everything.

And it doesn't matter just some of the time. It matters all of the time. A great leader must be able to light that spark of continuous improvement within each and every employee. One cannot become motivated just because the boss says so. Only intrinsically motivated people are able to amaze themselves and as a result amaze the world.

Whether you're making a product or offering a service, it all starts with the passion you have for whatever you do and the ability you have to focus your energy to become successful. A great leader creates a clear and compelling vision that makes people passionate.

Success depends on focus. Focus depends on passion.

Find your passion, create your focus, and success will follow.

The people at Apple have a passion, they've created their focus and became extremely successful by creating products that amazed the world and we now all love.....and that's an emotion.

And it all started with one man and his quest for excellence who became successful by connecting his business to emotions and emotions to business and by attracting passionate people to make it all happen. Quite an accomplishment.

Just some thoughts.....

Like at Apple, the single most  important thing about our culture is, it never wears off. It doesn’t go away. It’s there every day, and it has a huge impact on everything that matters to every business we serve.

We have the best people in the industry from our mail rooms, front of house, office services, Experience Directors, Regional Directors, Future Leaders and everyone in HQ, to our Executive Leadership Team, marketing, finance, operations, sales and people solutions. There are so many people willing to help our employees at FSO that they can learn from, to make them better in their careers.

For our clients, our commitment to exceeding your expectations, ensuring that every single teammate is the best trained and best prepared employee they can be is what sets us apart!

As Shalaine would say, "Have a great day filled with purpose & love; make each moment count!! LET’S ROCK IT!!!"

Have a GREAT weekend!

Inspire ME Friday: Be Inspired By Israel Sci-Tech Schools and My Appointment to Their Board of Friends

"Not only do these life-changing inventions benefit all of humanity, they promise high employment at good salaries contributing to the economy of Israel. I couldn’t be happier to be part of such a noble effort.”

Good Morning Folks.

It's an exciting day for me as news spreads across the US and beyond of my recent appointment to The Board of Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools.

The job-creating Israel Sci-Tech Schools, as you'll read in the press release that follows, is a perfect fit for FSO and my own passion to create opportunities for the underserved.

Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools is the new North American non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening Israel Sci-Tech Schools network - the largest network of independent science and technology schools in Israel. This network includes 212 schools and colleges and 100,000 Israeli students as well as 500,000 alumni. The school network that the Friends organization supports was originally founded in Russia in 1880 and was established in Israel in 1949.  Funds raised by the Friends organization are designated for a variety of educational programs to keep pace with the ever-changing fields of science and technology and for special social and volunteer programs. Donations can also be earmarked to update existing classrooms and labs, or to build new schools.

Here are some of the highlights about the initiative:
  • Focusing on science and technology; essential skills for gaining sustainable employment and making important contributions to society in the 21st Century and beyond
  • Offers opportunities to lower social communities with a vision to upgrade those communities, resulting in bigger potential for getting employment and earning a good salary
  • 60% students study subjects mechanic to nano technology versus 35% Israel average
  • Curriculum being developed and spread to schools throughout the US and Europe
  • Volunteering in community- 20,000 students volunteering as part of studies
    • Identifying Holocaust survivors, buying them computers, installing Internet connecrtions and teaching surveyors communicate with the world and share their life stories online
    • Student volunteers dispatched to children's hospitals- teach and play with cancer-striken kids on computers across ten hospitals across Israel

 Here is the press release:

Mitchell D. Weiner— Entrepreneur, Business Transformation Pioneer and Founder and CEO of one of INC 5000’s Fastest Growing Companies, Appointed to
The Board of Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools

Tel Aviv, Israel and New York, New York, November 4, 2014—
Israel Sci-Tech Schools, Israel's largest independent educational network of schools and colleges, and FSO, the USA’s fastest growing onsite outsourcing company, announce the appointment of Mitchell D. Weiner, CEO and Chief Happiness Officer of FSO to the board of directors at Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools.

Mr. Weiner’s appointment strengthens and expands awareness and support in the United States, ensuring the security and vitality of Israel through the advancement of a strong science and technology education for all its citizens. Israel Sci-Tech Schools' graduates are among Israel’s most productive citizens: a workforce of engineers, senior military personnel, high tech entrepreneurs and scientists who are the backbone and the future of Israel.

Said Zvi Peleg, Israel Sci-Tech Schools' Director General, “There was an immediate warm connection between Mitch and us and Israel Sci-Tech Schools. Our schools are known for outside the box thinking and in Weiner’s case there is not even a box! We look forward to working with Mitch on strengthening the bond between Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools in the US and our network of schools in Israel.”

Commented Weiner, “Israel Sci-Tech Schools operates one of the largest Research & Development and Training centers for science and technology education in the world. It develops innovative curricula for robotics, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, teaching-learning methodologies and online pedagogy for implementation in Israel and export to education systems and hundreds of schools around the world. Not only do these life-changing inventions benefit all of humanity, they promise high employment at good salaries contributing to the economy of Israel. I couldn’t be happier to be part of such a noble effort.”

Adds Peleg, “In high school, did you ever see sparks fly off the sun through a state-of-the-art telescope or build a military vehicle for the IDF Armaments Corps? For nearly 1,200 students at Tzimbaum Israel Sci-Tech High School this is part of their daily learning. Tzimbaum is one of two aerospace schools in Israel – both belonging to the Israel Sci-Tech network. It caters to the full range of high school students and prepares its students to think creatively with innovative curricula including aviation, aerospace, physics, mathematics, computer programming, social studies and theater.”

“The business value of technology is limitless in this rapidly growing field. Humans already depend on robots in many spheres – robot-assisted search and rescue teams, surgeons making smaller incisions and enabling better prognoses, unmanned vehicles and airplanes, spray-painting cars,” says Weiner. “From creating food for astronauts, turning plastic into paper, to preventing tanker oil spills - Israel's accomplishments in science and technology continue to amaze all of us. Many of these life-changing inventions come from students.“

In addition to traditional learning, students of the Israel Sci-Tech Schools supplement their education with active participation in community service. “Mechubarim” (Connected) is an example of a program connecting hundreds of Holocaust Survivor to Cyberspace. 400 dedicated, tech-savvy teens put in the time to make a real, personal ‘connection’ with survivors.

Says Weiner, “It’s amazing, the students teach their elder partner how to use computers and explore the Internet. After they have learned basic skills, the seniors write their life stories on the computer bringing their past to life for their grandchildren and generations to come. This project helps the young and old bridge the generation gap. Together they learn to see beyond stereotypes and discover the value of each person.”

Mrs. Edith Everett – Chairman of the Board of Friends of Israel Sci-Tech school congratulated Mitch on joining the board and said “Thanks to the interest and support of Directors like Mitch Weiner, we are training teens with vision, a creative spirit and a desire to make a difference to Israel and the world.

The Israel Sci-Tech Schools network was established in Israel at 1949 and to date, has over 500,000 graduates.”

About 20 years ago, incoming Israel Sci-Tech Schools Director, Weiner, co-founded Archer Management. The company pioneered mailroom outsourcing – essentially bringing his employees into law firms and other companies to manage all aspects of the mailroom. After growing the company, Weiner was part of the sale of Archer to Oce  (now Canon) in the mid-1990s. He then repeated the success with a startup, rapid growth and sale of another outsourcing company, his third business success. With each, he’s laid a bit more of the foundation for FSO – and the acceptance of onsite outsourcing within multi-billion dollar companies. Like Israel Sci-Tech Schools, Weiner’s firm creates jobs and opportunities for the underserved which he believes, will be his corporate legacy.

I couldn't be more proud and honored to be part of this great organization. I look forward to spreading the word within the United States and to working with other great American organizations and their CEOs as they come aboard.

I will keep you posted in the months ahead.

Meanwhile there are times to work, rest and play. To fully enjoy your weekend let go of the working week.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Inspire ME Friday: On Halloween and Always— Don't Be Scared of Change

Photo: Norkin via Facebook

"Incumbent leaders in one era rarely are the leaders in the next era. Innovation occurs at the edge of an industry. Consequently, incumbents usually aren’t the first to focus on disruptive changes. They tend to focus on their existing competitors and incumbents are at risk of becoming victims of their own success." ~~John Sculley

Good Morning Folks,

The scariest day of the year isn't today— Halloween.

It's whatever day you're afraid to embrace change... to try new things.

Business is moving at Internet speed. According to former Apple CEO John Scully in his new book "Moonshot!: Game-Changing Strategies to Build Billion-Dollar Businesses" —  "A new breed of entrepreneurs has emerged who are putting customers first. We’re seeing it in all industries from transportation (Uber) to accommodations (Airbnb) to web content (Pinterest). Entrepreneurs at these companies are raising the bar in customer-experience businesses with the incredibly ambitious goal of being 10x better than any service previously available. This new breed of entrepreneurs, the “adaptive innovators”, are building the next generation of billion-dollar businesses."

Scully argues, "Here’s why “adapt” is such a power word. Incumbent leaders in one era rarely are the leaders in the next era. Innovation occurs at the edge of an industry. Consequently, incumbents usually aren’t the first to focus on disruptive changes. They tend to focus on their existing competitors and incumbents are at risk of becoming victims of their own success. They become complacent because on the metrics they measure success they appear to be doing well. That is, until everything quickly changes."

Everything is changing and those who refuse to change will be left behind.

That's why my selection for this week's inspiring internal communique to share was penned by Capco Experience Manager, Jenna Solis. We get more kudos from Capco per employee than any other client so hats off to Jenna and over to you:
Isn't it great to wake up to a day that you've never seen or experienced before? Really think about.... Each day we are blessed to breathe air into our lungs; have full activity of our brain and limbs.
Yet I dare to ask....are we truly working at our full potential.
Be encouraged FSO family. It's time to do a "New Thing".
How many of us can remember a time where you've felt over worked and under appreciated? I'd like to share my story to show you just how GREAT of an opportunity Mitch has put before us. I was employed by a company that monitored your workload but never appreciated your work; they cut me a check every two weeks but never really knew my worth.
The problem was I had an Above & Beyond attitude, and a desire to excel that wasn't being nurtured. So what was one to do?  Bask in the mundane? Or search for a "New Thing"? Thankfully, a great friend thought it not robbery to share her current career path. She informed me that she supported an outstanding group of individuals who were dedicated and pumped about a vision that had been laid out by their phenomenal President & CEO Mitch Weiner.
Well naturally, I needed to know where and when I could sign up. :) Upon coming into FSO it immediately clicked that this was truly going to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I remember being apart of my first FSO event. It was an Award Recognition Night. Man oh man! I could feel the positive energy in my bones. I wanted to run around the room after being inspired by many of you.
I remember asking myself "Jenna, where do you fit within this company?
How many of you have asked or ask yourselves that very question?
FSO I'm just as FIRED UP as day one because I'm holding myself accountable for my success and those around me. The CAPCO team and I (Woop Woop) are dedicated to being instrumental in the success of the FSO brand. Let me tell you they're no big I's and little U's in a team. So it's important that everyone's voice is heard. Thankfully, Mitch and our leadership team have continued to develop and implement platforms for us to share our thoughts and feedback.
Are we utilizing these tools?
So here's a proposed challenge to you All! ELT's, Directors, Managers & Associates . Lead the Change. Identify where you fit in within the FSO vision. We all have something dynamic to bring to the FSO experience. For some, it may be ideas on taking Hospitality & White glove service to the next level; for others it may be a new approach on an already defined idea. Whatever it is, make it your "New Thing"!!!!
If we want Mitch's vision to shine brighter than what we could have ever imagined, we've got to dig deeper! Do we see 2020 clearly or are we squinting Let's get to work !!!!!! Managers, if you're not at your sites having team huddles, promoting FLP and nurturing your teams success...it's time to do a "New Thing". FSO Nation if we aren't making what we do each day apart of our daily conversations it's time to do a "New Thing". If we are allowing the competition to even make an appointment with a potential client, it's time to do  a... NEW THING!!!!!
Our competitors customers live halloween horror stories every day because, unlike FSO, they are always scared to try new things. And that's why every one of the hundreds of big brand customers we've acquired in the past four years USED to be theirs.

I know we have a tremendous amount of talent at FSO and when we get together to figure out a problem we come up with some amazing innovative ideas that drives us forward in success.

I ask my teams:  The next time you’re working with your teams and you ask “what did you do today to ensure the client Feels the Experience?”

If you get blank faces staring back at you, we will need to show them what small things they can do each time to enhance the service experience. How do you enhance repro jobs, mail, conference bookings/ setups, facility request or assisting with Hoteling every time? Talk to the client and ask questions. Often they will let you know what can be done to help them.

Focus on the items not being requested. Are you shipping this job out today? If you have enough information you can provide a box, labels, pouch and tape when you deliver the job. Have project delivered to their hotel? Or suggests you ship it to the destination. Call and follow up on the project or job. It takes less than 30 seconds to call or swing by and just ask is everything done to their satisfaction and is there anything else we can do for you? Leave a VM.  Most often they will say no, they don’t need anything else, but the small jester of asking gets you a lot of client love.

Then reflect on the FSO career path:

Cheryl | A former mail clerk at groupm - now the Portfolio Manager to Durst
Glenda | A former internal messenger for VNO - now the Division Administrator
David | A former Lead at Sage - now the Portfolio Manager for Brookfield +
Mario | A former Supervisor at Conde - now the Portfolio Manager for VNO +

What an amazing place FSO is. An organization build on helping others.

We help them - let me help you.

You have all reached a certain level of success and growth... why stop there?

You each have strength and skills that have merited your current roles within the division, within FSO. Let's reach HIGHER!

Let's self motivate. Let's increase ourselves. Let's GROW!

Because when we grow, our clients grow too.

I hope everyone has a  Fantastic weekend!

InspireME Friday: Three Things

Art: MelikeDesign.com
"May You Be Sealed for a Good Year
(in the Book of Life)

Good Morning Folks.

Here's your dose of inspiration for today:

==>Three things in life that, once gone, never come back
-1. Time 2. Words 3. Opportunity

==>Three things in life that can destroy a person
- 1. Anger 2. Pride 3. Unforgiveness

==>Three things in life that you should never lose
- 1. Hope 2. Peace 3. Honesty

==>Three things in life that are most valuable
- 1. Love 2. Family & Friends 3. Kindness

==>Three things in life that are never certain
- 1. Fortune 2. Success 3. Dreams

==> Three things that make a person
- 1. Commitment 2. Sincerity 3. Hard work

These are the kinds of things we think about on Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement which is considered the holiest and most solemn day on the Jewish calendar. The traditional Yom Kippur greeting is "G'mar Hatimah Tovah" or "May You Be Sealed for a Good Year (in the Book of Life)." This reflects the Jewish view of Yom Kippur as the day when God seals our fates (determined by our actions) for the upcoming year in the Books of Life or Death.

So for those observing the holiday I wish you "Chag Samayach" and a very happy and healthy New Year 5775.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Inspire ME Friday: Shalaine's Story

"Feel the Experience is not just marketing speak. It is all about what we are creating, a special moment, a memorable moment— a lasting impression of Service with a Smile. This is what our clients know they can count on when they meet someone from FSO – an Experience that is uniquely FSO."

Good Morning Folks,

Friday on MitchWeiner.com is the day when I share with the world one of the inspirational employee emails that is normally restricted for internal consumption.

Recently I announced the promotion of Shalaine Adams to the newly created position of Regional Manager, Delivering the Experience. In Shalaine’s new role, which relocated her from our headquarters in New York City to the Central Region, she is already working with all of our teams rolling out our brand Nationwide. Shalaine will lead and assist in training, her largest percent of time, specifically around the CLIENT and EMPLOYEE experience.

Upon her promotion Shalaine put some thoughts on paper for her colleagues. I have selected her email as the employee communication of the week to share with you today. This is from her heart and exemplifies the exceptional people onboard FSO, the passion they have and their commitment to our client's success. Here's Shalaine:
Hello & Good morning FSO, USA!! J What an awesome week it’s been!!! We’ve spoken a lot about Feeling The Experience, it’s something we want all of our clients to feel but, did you know this goes for YOU as well, because when you are feeling the experience you can then be inspired share it with others!
Your experience with FSO is important because you are Mitch’s heart! You see, life is made up of many experiences, all of which are there to help you grow & learn. Each experience helps shape you into the person you are meant to become!
I would like to take you on a journey with me, back to when I was a receptionist with the competitor. My experience was not a great one, my opinions didn’t matter, I didn’t have any opportunity to grow, I was stuck at a dead end job with nowhere to go. I knew there had to be something more out there for me, a place where I can grow and have an actual career. Fast forward to three years ago, joining the FSO family, believing in Mitch’s promise to have a shot at a career not just a job and now I am seeing my dreams come to fruition how exciting is that!!
The sky is the limit for you here at FSO; working hard never goes for naught.   I have had an awesome experience here at FSO, the Care, Love and Respect that Mitch has for US is like no other and it is such a blessing to feel that love & support everyday!
As I embark on my new journey as Regional Manager, Delivering the Experience; I am preparing to leave NY and will be heading to the Mid-West. I realize that I am truly not alone, I take all of my fond memories and experiences with me. From being a part of the amazing PS team, all of the support & love of my good friends at HQ, working with my sister Chelsea, creating Experience Greatness and meeting and training the best employees in the industry! I FEEL the difference and the true meaning of being a part something much bigger than myself! Words cannot express how excited I am, knowing that I will be touching the lives of our wonderful employees is something I take much pride in. You see, for me; it is Personal, making each moment & interaction count. Inspiring, motivating & empowering the field one employee at a time is an honor and I am so grateful to have this opportunity.
I am so excited and I look forward to lighting up the FSO nation. Looking forward to seeing many of you very soon!
Ok, I must admit .. I teared up reading Shalaine's email. What a beautiful message. All I had to do is give her a chance to fly and she did. Shalaine’s promotion is just one example of how FSO is changing the onsite outsourcing world and changing our employee's worlds!

We will miss Shalaine's positive influence in New York. But our company is national and she can help us be the best we can be at all times in all places. I am so proud and excited for her as she will bring to the field tremendous love, care, heart and ideas with deep experience to make our business grow and support all of our clients and employees in FULLFILLING DREAMS and AMBITIONS.

I shared an AWESOME quote my LinkedIn page this week: "Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words." I thought this is just perfect for what we stand for at FSO. Respect, Integrity, Transparency, and Trust – The FSO Difference.

The single most  important thing about our culture is, it never wears off.

Eddie Pons: "I Am That Boy"

There is no better example of someone who took opportunity to heart and made the most of it in the form of a fulfilling and lucrative career working his way all the way up to FSO Division Director as Eddie Pons. According to Eddie, "When people ask me what I do for a living, I reply: FULFILL DREAMS!"

TGIF Folks,

To send you off to the weekend with a BIG SMILE, here is today's inspirational message from Eddie Pons. It's the kind of motivational messages people from all walks of our company contribute daily. Here's Eddie:
A brief story:
24 years ago, a young boy met a person that would change his life...forever.

This boy worked for a small New York company providing customer service via a busy mail room. Snow, rain, extreme temperatures, he would trek "to and fro" retrieving and delivering mail and parcel for his company, always with a smile - always helpful. He learned and learned whatever would make the job better. He cared about everything he did, and could do - to help anyone. As much as he loved his job, it was just that, a "job" - however, something was about to change...
Those so many years ago, this boy met... a Visionary. A Pioneer. A force that would change... everything! This Visionary would create a career from that "job", the boy loved so.
Both the boy and the visionary shared the same passion. They both believed in taking care of people, finding the best in them and helping wherever possible. The meeting of the two was destiny. The feeling of finding someone that shared the same philosophies, focus, passion could only be described as a mutual love. Love of people.
Unbeknownst to him at the time, the boy had met someone that would impact his life, the life of his family and the lives of all that would be so blessed as to share and experience in his vision. That feeling of comfort, of satisfaction, of simply being blown away is something that is not felt everyday and is to be treasured. We all want that feeling, deserve that feeling and would want to spread that feeling to as many people possible.
That boy with a job, grew to be a man with an amazing career and great success.
That visionary with a dream, is growing the most dominant company in our industry.
I - am that boy.
Mitch - is that visionary.
And that love?... that love - is the FSO EXPERIENCE!
Everyone of you deserve it, and so do our clients. This is who we are. This is what we provide. This is what they all want. Everyday - Every interactions  - Every moment - the message never changes, the feeling is real - share it with the world:
FSO...Feel the EXPERIENCE
Thanks so much for this Eddie. There is no better example of someone who took opportunity to heart and made the most of it in the form of a fulfilling and lucrative career working his way all the way up to FSO Division Director, as Eddie Pons.

I dare say we promote more people every day than most other companies of our size.

Just ask Eddie Pons and dozens like him at FSO who have worked their way up to stardom. According to Eddie, "When people ask me what I do for a living, I reply: FULFILL DREAMS!"

Don't let anything or anyone stop you. Believe and inspire. And SPREAD THE WORD.

Your energy, enthusiasm and professionalism are always greatly appreciated.

Have a fabulous, sunny weekend filled with love and inspiration.

Be great and (re)IMAGINE!

Love Life!
