Shattering Glass Ceilings and Realizing Her Full Potential, FSO Is Where Crystal's Career Dreams and Ambitions Are Being Fulfilled

"Mitch, Jim, and the entire ELT have built this incredible business and are allowing opportunities for every single FSO staff member to shine and grow personally and professionally. Do not only “FEEL THE EXPERIENCE” for yourself, SPREAD the experience to every person who you interact with and we will all shine!! :)"

Good Morning Folks,

We're back after a week's hiatus with a special treat for you this morning.

FSO is growing at an extremely fast pace. Outsiders want to know the keys to that success -- the driving force behind the ambition. We know it's our people that make the difference.

But as I've said before, on Fridays when I share the best of our internal employee communiques of the week, the best way to get to know the size, scope and spirit of FSO is to hear what our employees have to say directly.

At FSO, I promise our employees a career, not just a job. An opportunity for anyone with >>SKIP >>Twinkle >>Fire and a willingness to work hard and learn and grow each and every day, the a chance to shatter glass ceilings and realize their full potential as has never been possible before. Today, Crystal's story is a case in point:
Good morning and a very happy hump day FSO USA!! :) :) :)
With this, my first ever morning message, I want to stress a very simple concept that we all know and have heard a million times.. this being “the golden rule”.. treat others as you would like to be treated.

Super cliché right? Allow me to just tell you a short story about the benefits of being a nice, positive person…

I grew up the daughter of a fabulous couple who owned a small family hardware store. From the time I was five years old I would go into the store and stand beside my mother at the counter and watch her interact with customers on a regular basis. I watched as every single customer, from the burliest, grease stained mechanic to the frazzled housewife with a clogged toilet, left our little store with a smile on their face because my mother treated each and every customer like family. The tiny store was a beacon of my little community with customers avoiding the “big box” hardware stores.. whose identities I will keep anonymous.. to pay a little more at our mom & pop store because of the EXPERIENCE.

This sublime level of customer service is in my blood (or, one could say that I have "FSO" in my blood.. to an outsider this may sound like I have a terminal illness but everyone in this family will understand my meaning.. and as we sweep the nation soon enough the outsiders will understand as well) and living by the idea of the golden rule has gotten me everything. I graduated from Hofstra University four years ago at the height of the recession still very unsure of what I wanted to be when I “grew up”.

I needed to make money, so the food service industry was an obvious choice. I spent the past four years behind bars, knowing very well that it was not my end game but using it as a platform, a chance to speak with hundreds of people on a daily basis. I found myself growing within the food service industry and getting better and better opportunities.. all from bar guests.
People who did not necessarily know me but who were willing to take a chance on me simply because I was nice to them and really cared. A guest at the dive bar where I was working offered me a position at his sports bar… a guest at the sports bar offered me a position at his fancier French bistro… a guest at the French bistro was a chef at one of the most popular restaurant/clubs in the heart of the Meatpacking District and he offered me a position there.

And it was there where a group of fun loving bar guests came in who were clearly celebrating and were clearly not only coworkers but dear friends. The leader of the group requested champagne and I worked with him to select the perfect bottle for the occasion. One of the members of the group was a lovely woman who was pregnant so I made her a virgin mojito. I made the group smile and laugh.. I was as accommodating as possible because that’s the only way that I know how to treat people.. I’m my mother’s daughter.

The infectious, permanently smiling man who was the ringleader of the group handed me his business card as he left and insisted that I call because he wanted me on his team. The business card read “Mitchell D. Weiner – Founder, Chief Happiness Officer, CEO & Owner". (A company with a Chief Happiness Officer!? SIGN ME UP!) And now here I sit, nearly four months into my tenure with FSO a week after receiving my first promotion, writing my story to the entire company… it is pretty amazing.

Today I have two pieces of advice for every person in this company. Number one is to treat others as you would like to be treated. Live life like my mother and I can guarantee that the results will be overwhelmingly positive. And number two is to appreciate and recognize when you are treated particularly well. Live life like Mitch and acknowledge that taxi driver, or that grocery store worker, or that barista who has gone above and beyond and let them know how much you appreciate it. Take it a step further and tell them about FSO. Every single one of us has the opportunity to recruit and build on this company simply by recognizing talent. We are a PEOPLE company.

Mitch, Jim, and the entire ELT have built this incredible business and are allowing opportunities for every single FSO staff member to shine and grow personally and professionally. Do not only “FEEL THE EXPERIENCE” for yourself, SPREAD the experience to every person who you interact with and we will all shine!! :)

Well Crystal, THANK you. What a great message!!!  So powerful, I'm so glad you're here! We are venturing into the fourth year of our youthful company with so many great people and ideas.

This week, DELIVER THE FSO EXPERIENCE with POWER OF FOCUS. Let us all help each other so that we continue to be THE BEST ONSITE OUTSOURCING COMPANY IN THE WORLD!

With care, passion, inspiration and love.

Have a GREAT day as I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Ted Tuesday: "You've Got To Find What You Love,"Jobs says

"Hands down the best career talk ever given. EVER! Jobs urged the Stanford graduating class of 2005 to courageously follow their heart and intuition, just as he did. He encouraged them to give their inner voice a chance and not suppress it by giving in to others' opinions."

Good Morning Folks,

Today we revisit one of the most memorable and classic speeches ever— one that Steve Jobs gave to a group of graduating young students from the University of Stanford beginning a new journey of their lives: How to Live Before You Die (& not spend your life hating what you do)

I believe this is hands down the best career talk ever given. Ever. I’ve watched it over a dozen times. Not originally a TED talk, but now one of their top videos. This commencement speech garnered over 8 million views in a single day on YouTube, the day after Jobs' death. As I write this post, the speech now has over 15 million views.

Drawing from some of the most pivotal points in his life, Steve Jobs, chief executive officer and co-founder of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, urged graduates to pursue their dreams and see the opportunities in life's setbacks -- including death itself -- at the university's 114th Commencement on June 12, 2005.

"You've  got to find what you love," Jobs says

What was so special about Steve Jobs' words that day which made a lasting impression on many? It was straight from the man's heart. And secondly, there was much to reflect upon in terms of the embedded message encouraging youngsters even today to achieve their best.

In his three part speech, Jobs talked about how one's past can influence one's future, stumbling upon both love and loss and coming face-to-face with death. Jobs shared many personal moments from his life right from when he started as a college student till the day he discovered he had cancer.

Jobs narrated his experiences when he had dropped out of college and so didn't have a dorm room. He slept on the floor of friends' rooms, returned coke bottles for 5 cent deposits to buy food and walked 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. He wanted to convey that the past had an important role to play in his present.

Jobs continued to talk about how he was fired from Apple, which was the biggest turning point of his career. Being jobless for a few months, Jobs thought it was all over until his perspective changed and he began to see this as an opportunity. He went on to start NeXT and Pixar, and during this time Jobs also fell in love with Laurene, whom he eventually married. In turn of events, Apple bought NeXt and Jobs returned to Apple, a move he never thought would've been possible.

Jobs urged the Stanford graduating class of 2005 to courageously follow their heart and intuition, just as he did. He encouraged them to give their inner voice a chance and not suppress it by giving in to others' opinions.

Here's Steve:

Full  of Steve Jobs' address

The sprit of Steve Jobs is very much alive today at FSO as we consistently strive to help our clients discover and (re)imagine new and better ways of doing business.

Every day, people search for something that motivates them. Things to get them out of bed, things to get them pumped up, things to help them make it through the day and so much more! What a great thing to be able to say about your job!

As in the locations that I am lucky enough to visit this week, each site employee, YOU, are the FSO difference! You're commitment to service, to exceed the client’s expectations, to notice that detail, to have that SKIP, FIRE, TWINKLE is uniquely FSO.

The employee and client lovefest could not be stronger and I could not be more fired up!!

Thanks to NDTV for their inspiration putting this together and most of all to you for listening.

Have a GREAT day. Love LIFE!

Getting Right Back Up When You Are Knocked Down

"If you know folks who have that “skip, twinkle and fire,” and are ready to get back up, bring them to our family!"

Good Morning Folks,

As I woke up this morning I wanted to share a vintage nugget of advice I came across while revisiting Tom Ziglar's blog from 2009.
A fan names Chis asked:
“When your mind takes a hit after working hard at getting better, how does one get back?”  Chris
Chris, good news and bad news on this one. The bad news first.  We all get knocked down!  Everyone has to deal with taking a mental hit, even if you are working on staying mentally strong and staying positive.
Here is the good news. You can decide NOW how you are going to respond when you take a mental hit. Here are a few things to remember.
“Logic will not change an emotion, but action will.”  Zig Ziglar.  You can not “just” think your way out of a mental hit. It is important to recognize that you have taken a hit, and then you have to take action to get back on track.
Have on hand your favorite books and audio recordings, and when you take a hit plan some time each day to absorb the good stuff.
Call a friend or mentor who is positive and ask them for a little motivational feedback. It’s great if you can also be this person for someone else.
Create a victory list of all of the things you have accomplished and the goals that you are in the process of achieving and review it when you get knocked down. This will remind you that you have been knocked down before and you can get back up and achieve great things.
Take some time for reflection. It is amazing how many times getting knocked down really means that you just stand up and start again, in a slightly new direction!
As you go back about your business this Wednesday, I can't help but think how awesome it is that we have so many cities and teams across FSO USA— how amazing that makes the opportunities for every single person in our great company.

What a time in everyone's careers to live the dream and know that your future is so bright.

So if you've been knocked down but still have that “skip, twinkle and fire,” and a desire to get back up— come on over and give FSO a look.

You'd be joining the right company, at the right time, with the right people that can help you get back on your feet.

We are one blessed company. Communicate. Smile. Treat our clients like gold. Treat your teammates like family and never ever give up and I promise you will thrive.

Keep it up and continue to spread the FSO way.

Love Life and LIGHT IT UP!

National Expansion; Future Leaders Promoted From Within And Other Thoughts For A Cold and Snowy Hump Day

Image: Forbes
"Matt has impressed me with his ability to dive in and learn the Records procedures and details of our system. When issues arise he consults me appropriately and together we resolve them. I look forward to further work with Matt. Thanks for hiring an experienced Records Manager who hit the ground running and brings a lot to the table."

Good Morning Folks

I hope you are all off to a WONDERFUL week so far.

I have been zipping across the country for the past few months and it has been wonderful to see our Personal, Passionate and Productive culture alive and kicking across the nation. Thank you to each and everyone of you for representing FSO with positive energy, smiles, amazing hospitality and customer service.

One of our 2014 goals is to have the most inspired, motivated and best trained employees in the industry. FSO is based on some very solid beliefs that are centered around building a career path for the passionate people who consistently do a great job for our clients.

Nothing is more important than having great people who care about the service they provide to our customers. Identifying and finding great people starts with knowing exactly what you are looking for - that fire in the belly, skip in the step and twinkle in the eye. Our Future Leaders must have the desire to grow and be a part of something amazing, something BIGGER.

Everyday the Executive Leadership Team are thinking about how we can further expand growth opportunities, career paths, incentives and success with us. I am so passionate about the FLP Program and promoting from within, I want to ensure those who have grown and flourished with us are given the first opportunity to move up in their careers with us.

Another top goal of our organization is ensuring that we launch each new site with an FSO EM or Lead -- at a minimum! In other words, we will not open an account without an FSO person. Our goal  of ensuring perfect implementations will only be achieved by having as many FSO employees go to new sites as possible, and we will backfill them with new FSO employees in their current site. Simply put, this provides the opportunity for growth & advancement for all FSO employees.

You know that I am personally invested and CARE about every person in our company. It is part of the personal touch we brings to our prospects and FSO clients. Did you know that hundreds of our corporate and field staff were uncovered and/or promoted through me alone! Pretty impressive and we’ll only get stronger and better with a well-oiled FLP.

There are 2 ways for existing FSO employees to become a part of the FLP:
If YOU are a top performing employee, you have the fire, skip, twinkle, AND you are interested in being a part of the FLP (which will likely require leaving your current site), speak up! Call me or Denise directly and let us know you want to grow your career with FSO!  We want to hear from you to fulfill your dreams!
If you are an EM, EAD, ED, RD, or a member of the PS or ELT and you know an employee who has the fire, skip, twinkle AND they are interested in growing their career with FSO, call me or Denise directly!
If this sounds incredible and impressive to the forgotten hourly employees stuck in dead-end jobs elsewhere, and the kind of career path and commitment you would like to be assured in return for your investment working hard every day, please send your resume to Kshepherd (at) fso-outsourcing.com.

I am personally committed to (re)IMAGING our FLP to enhance the FSO Employee Experience.

I’m only one person and know I can’t do it alone. I need your knowledge, expertise and experience.

We are family & it’s all about TEAM WORK!

Have a GREAT Day. Love Life.

I'll be a seeing you soon.

Why Isn't Anyone Reading Your Resume? Your LinkUP To Job Search Success

"As a trusted business partner and friend I am seeking your recommendations of highly motivated people who are looking for a new opportunity and bright future in the field of Human Resources.. ASAP"

Good Morning Folks,

Sorry to hear about the continued snow and cold around the USA. I myself had some major delays last night and had about 3.5 hours of sleep but I'm inspired and totally on fire.

Since FSO is conducting a nationwide job search for marketing and HR talent, and it's been too long between LinkUps— I thought I would share more broadly some of the career advice that I have been posting recently on LinkedIn.

It's not you: Why no one's reading your resume
Why isn't anyone reading your resume? Here are some ways to navigate recruiters' Applicant Tracking Systems and get yourself noticed.

Spending on Corporate Training Soars: Employee Capabilities a Priority
Corporate training is always a very good indicator of economic activity:  when companies slow down they often cut training spending, and then as business grows they ramp back up to train new hires, sales people, and leaders. This is among the most discretionary of all corporate spending areas, so it is an excellent bellwether for business confidence.

If I Had a Hammer
The automation of today and the future requires a (re)IMAGINED approach to job search and preparation

The Basics of Not Bombing and Interview
It doesn’t matter if you have 20 years of experience and a letter of recommendation from the president of the United States — if you bomb the interview, you’re not getting hired. Here’s what you need to consider

8 Tips To Dress For Interview Success
Struggling to decide on an outfit for your upcoming job interview? What you wear to an interview creates an image or perception of the type of person you are, so choosing your attire is critical to presenting yourself as the right candidate to hire.

These are the 50 best places to work for 2014

6 Habits of Remarkably Likable People
Hiring Managers cite the number one reason in competitive races for one position, it's the Likability factor or as better known in singing competitions the "X" factor that decides.

5 Steps to Writing an Amazing LinkedIn Recommendation
Beyond what you provide a recruiter, they will go to your LinkedIn page to do reference checks. Are yours in order and the best they can be. The time to ask for recommendations is when you are ion your game not the day after you've been swept up in an unexpected restructuring that can happen to anyone.

Should you or someone you know of make a GREAT fit for FSO's Personal, Passionate & Productive culture, please contact me directly (mweiner at fso-outsourcing.com) or send resumes to Lindsay Gallagher (lgallagher at fso-outsourcing.com).

When it comes to delivering our services, our people are the driving force in making the difference. Our goal has always been to ensure that the staff we have are so passionate and are armed with the tools and knowledge to succeed in their ultimate career and life goals.

Have a GREAT Day. Love Life.

I'll be a seeing you soon.

=> InspireME Friday: Fire >> Passion >>Skip

Via Red Bull
"Leadership (aka. >>Fire >> Passion >>Skip) is scarce because few people are willing to go through the discomfort required to lead."

Good Morning Folks,

What a week it's been! The FSO House was rocking all day, every day with >>Fire >> Passion >>Skip, and this excitement and buzz will go a long way in the market!! Our talent levels are literally increasing overnight.

We saw well over 200 candidates during our job fair and open house. The excitement and buzz in the office again was felt by the candidates and the majority of them commented about what a GREAT vibe they felt from the second they walked off the elevator. Ahhhh, hospitality – that is what we are all about!!

A big shout out to EVERYONE who made the 2 days so special. A real true team event…coming in early and staying late. You are all awesome and I truly appreciate your support!!

I also want to thank those customers, employees and Mitch Weiner social media followers that have supported my "casting" calls for referrals of Sales and HR talent.

Mostly because people like yourselves talked about, spread the word about and delivered top-shelf candidates that will help FSO *light up a nation* with talent levels unlike anywhere else on the planet. Together with our existing team, we are truly The Happiest Place to Work on Earth.

We are also a family— a tribe. A tribe is any group of people, large or small, who are connected to one another, a leader, and an idea.

That in mind, to send you off to your weekends on a high note, here's a favorite excerpt from Seth Godin's book "Tribes" (one of the bestselling leadership book on Amazon)

Leadership (aka. >>Fire >> Passion >>Skip) is scarce because few people are willing to go through the discomfort required to lead.

The scarcity makes leadership valuable. If everyone tries to lead all the time, not much happens. It’s discomfort that creates the leverage that makes leadership worthwhile.

In other words, if everyone could do it, they would, and it wouldn’t be worth much.

==> It’s uncomfortable to stand up in front of strangers.
==> It’s uncomfortable to propose an idea that might fail.
==> It’s uncomfortable to challenge the status quo.
==> It’s uncomfortable to resist the urge to settle.

When you identify the discomfort, you’ve found the place where a leader is needed.

If you’re not uncomfortable in your work as a leader, it’s almost certain you’re not reaching your potential as a leader.

Thanks again to everyone who put the word out and brought in referrals. Don’t be shy and keep those referrals coming. Positions are still open. The more the merrier!

From our wonderful FSO Family have a GREAT weekend, be happy and… Love Life!

Ted Tuesday: Kathryn Schulz: On Being Wrong

"Here’s a fascinating counterpoint to the notion that making a mistake somehow diminishes you as a person. We shouldn’t fear error, the author says; rather, we should embrace it because it’s our capacity for making mistakes that makes us who we are. (“To err is human” isn’t just an empty cliché.) "

Good Morning Folks,

Most of us will do anything to avoid being wrong. But what if we're wrong about that? "Wrongologist" Kathryn Schulz makes a compelling case for not just admitting but embracing our fallibility.

Kathryn Schulz is the author of "Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error," and writes "The Wrong Stuff," a Slate series featuring interviews with high-profile people about how they think and feel about being wrong.

In todays TED Tuesday, Schulz casts a fresh and irreverent eye upon the profound meanings behind our most ordinary behaviors—in this instance, how we make mistakes, how we behave when we find we have been wrong, and how our errors change us.

Enjoy!

Have a GREAT day. Love LIFE!

Ted Tuesday— "The Cleverest Kid In The World," Adora Svitak, on What Adults Can Learn From Kids

"The world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach."

Good Morning Folks,

15-year old Adora Svitak will blow you away. She says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach.

Dubbed the “cleverest kid in the world”, the 15-year-old is already an internationally acclaimed speaker and published author, known for her essays, stories, poems, blogs, and full-length books since the age of seven. Her TED Talk in 2010, What Adults Can Learn From Kids, has garnered almost 3 million views across the web.

A passionate activist, Adora has a moving message to share with the world. She can often be found on stages around the world delivering talks on youth impact, Internet culture and its integration into education, and the impact of technology on the creative process. Her most recent endeavour was to participate in the XPRIZE Foundation’s Visioneering 2013, an annual event where groundbreaking entrepreneurs, thinkers, inventors and innovators gather to create innovations that will push humanity forward.

When you talk about what we look for in employees for FSO, the eye of the tiger, fire in the belly and skip in the step, this young lady knocks all three out of the park. Adora, we have a place reserved for you on our team!

Enjoy the brief video. After hearing Adora's talk, how could one ever say the world "can't" again?

Enjoy!

Have a GREAT day. Love LIFE!
