I hope everyone had an amazing weekend - especially after an awesome week at FSO! 

We had the second CHO Club last week - which was just amazing!!  (and we have the pictures to prove it)!

I along with the entire ELT LOVE nothing more than celebrating YOU, our valued employees! 

Our company is growing and nothing is going to stop us. We are too strong. Focused. Passionate and committed to making FSO the number one on site outsourcing company on the planet. 

The quest for growth is always powered by a thirst for change. Seth Godin, one of  marketing's brightest minds put it this way in a blog post this weekend:

At the congregation down the street, they're doing things the way they've done them for the last few hundred years. Every week, people come, attracted by familiarity, by the family and friends around them, part of a tribe.
And just past that building is another one, a different tribe, where the tradition is more than a thousand years old. 
This is not so different from that big company that used to be an internet startup, but all the original team members have long left the building. Work tomorrow has a lot in common with work yesterday, and the safety of it all is comforting. 
Che, Jefferson, Edison, Ford... most of these radicals would not recognize the institutions that have been built over time. 
The question each of us has to answer about the institution we care about is: Does this place exist to maintain and perpetuate the status quo, or am I here to do the work that the radical founder had in mind when we started? 
First principles. The quest for growth, or for change, or for justice. The ability, perhaps the desire, to seek out things that feel risky. 
All of us are part of organizations that were started by outliers, by radicals, by people who cared more about making a difference than fitting in.

CHO Club April: Stars Make Their Mark On The FSO Walk of Fame

Good Morning Folks,

The sign of making it in Hollywood is to have your hand prints make their mark by being enshrined in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The equivalent at FSO is being nominated to participate in our monthly CHO Club. The CHO club is just another example of going above and beyond to say thanks to the wonderful people who serve our clients each and every day. These monthly recognition meetings provide the perfect platform to award, recognize and incentivize our top performers.

Some thought that our March event, which I blogged about here, couldn't be topped. Well last night it was. I loved the night, loved the people and the people loved us. 

Today I write to say, THANK YOU for INSPIRING ME. Yesterday's CHO club was perfect, exciting, and most important INSPIRING.

I so enjoy when we have a casual time to chat, recognize your victories, listen to your ideas, wins, strategies and hopes for personal accomplishments.

I made it my business to speak to every award winner including Dianne who could not talk, but made it. Lol…




Commented an employee: "Just felt I needed to thank you once again for yesterdays CHO Club get together. It was an honor to be chosen and the venue was awesome. So many people work for companies and don't have the privilege of being able to interact with the President and Founders let alone share a drink with them after work! THIS is what sets us aside from the competition! These events are great because it puts us in touch with one another. The personal aspect of FSO is alive and well in this company."


The teams were on fire and it is so easy for me to see clearly our FLP, and MRP winners today and into the future.

I left with Chelsea last night so happy with your accomplishments and how that completely translates into our client experience. It was my highlight of the year so far and I am already thinking of cool new locations like last night for May's event

It's because FSO loves nothing more than rewarding our hard-working and valued employees! Our employees represent FSO with confidence, knowledge, professionalism, smiles and a spark. From myself and the Executive Leadership Team to all of our employees across the nation – we want to say thank you for always helping us to reach these goals and congratulations to all the winners from headquarters and the field. 

Spread the word. Our next next “thank you event” of the year is just around there corner. The CHO Club will be at the end of May. Membership in the club is awarded based on ideas, strategies and cost savings suggested to the client and kudos received from clients.

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend and was able to spend a bit of time relaxing and clearing your mind so you are fresh and ready for another awesome week at FSO. 

Can I tell you how great it was to take a long weekend off and spend it in my favorite place Napa Valley? Not to mention the great wines I tasted and sent home.

Napa offers lots to do and has a lot to be proud of. In addition to truly beautiful scenery, this small area of Northern California boasts some of the world’s best wine and food. The combination of excellent soil and weather conditions makes fertile ground for olives, nuts, fruit, and of course wine, including all the French varietals and the region’s prized grape, Cabernet Sauvignon. 

Despite how many times I've been there and how much I thought I knew about Napa, last week I discovered so much great wine, food, natural beauty, and more. 

Few venues not only leave you so rested and relaxed, but also in awe of the friendly hospitable people and their can-do spirit that attends to your every need, makes you feel welcome and special as if you are their only guest. It's because your pleasure is truly their passion. It's the same high standard for service our FSO Rockstars set for ourselves, and you. Rockstars who treat the company as if it were theirs. 

Rockstars who find ways to proactively improve systems, creating positive change even when not yet asked for it. Rockstars who see and create their perfect future, and also bring others along. Rockstars who exude positive energy even in stressful times and share it around, making for a happier office.

The main themes I takeaway from Napa from a business perspective are innovation, making a personal connection, embracing your culture, and learning drives top business performers and company profitability. All through the power of HOSPITALITY!


Culture is so important - and, as a manager, it is critical that we ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same common goal and purpose; truly show that we CARE about our employees and clients!

We spend more than half our lives at work (isn't that a crazy thought!) so why not make it FUN? The Happiest place to Work! 

That in mind, it is hard to believe we are concluding the first four months of the year. And lots of great "stuff" lol has transpired this year. As I worked cross country and now this morning I just cannot stop thinking about all the amazingly opportunity that exists for us out there. I have been and always will be the most positive. Inspiring and motivating support factor our sales engine and all those who support the journey each and every day

So whether Napa, Disney, FSO or your organization… remember YOU can make a difference every single day in every single interaction you a have...you just have to make the decision to do so! 

Love your people. Love your clients. Thank someone for doing a great job or for just being who they are. Catch someone doing something good and tell them you noticed. Give a stranger a smile...it really is the little things that make a world of difference.

==> Inspire ME Friday: Let It Go

"If you wish to inspire yourself and others, be joyful. Have fun. Love yourself. Forgive yourself. Accept yourself.  Be unapologetically YOU."






Good Morning Folks,
Lets end the week strong with Marc and Angel and an excerpt from their book, "1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently."  It's filled with short, concise tips on how to do just that.  

Let's go!

You will find that it is necessary to let some things go, simply for the reason that they are heavy. So let them go... LET GO of them. Tie no weights to your ankles.

"Yesterday afternoon my twin sister called me from her hospital room. She's been in a coma for almost a year now. Entering the holiday season and New Year with my sister back at my side is a priceless feeling. We actually spent the entire night together, talking and laughing. She's still weak, of course, but surprisingly coherent."

That's the opening paragraph to an email I received this morning from a reader named Amber. It caught my attention for obvious reasons.

Amber then went on to say, "But you know what the really crazy thing is?  A month before my sister's accident, we got in a ridiculous argument and didn't speak to each other for that entire month. And today, honestly, neither one of us can even remember why we were so darn mad. We were just being stubborn and holding on to the wrong thoughts. I'm so grateful we were able to let it go and get another chance to love each other."

Wow!  Talk about a wake-up call and a great reminder for all of us to LET IT GO.

And since the summer is upon us, which inspires many of us to refocus our energy and attention on the right things, I think it's a perfect time right now to start letting go of the wrong things.  Wouldn't you agree?

So today, I challenge you to this:
1. Let go of your temper. - Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset.

2. Let go of petty grudges. - Life is far too short to be spent nursing bitterness and registering wrongs. If there's someone in your life who deserves another chance, give it to them.  If you need to apologize, do it.  Give your story together a happy, new beginning.

3. Let go of the idea that everyone has it better than you.- If the grass looks greener on the other side...  Stop staring. Stop comparing.  Stop complaining and START watering the grass you're standing on.

4. Let go of lingering false beliefs. - Stop from time to time and ask yourself, "Is it true?"  It's funny how we can sometimes wrap our minds around things and fit them into our version of reality.  But thinking something does not make it true. Wanting something does not make it real.  So watch your thoughts. Be wise. When your identity is not rooted in the truth, it can lead to toxic and lonely places where we seek approval from the wrong things.  (Read Loving What Is.)

5. Let go of expired ideals. - Growth is painful. Change is painful.  But in the end, nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you do not belong.

6. Let go of yesterday's tragedies. - You are not what has happened to you; you are what you choose to become in this moment. Drop the needless burden, take a deep breath and start again. Ultimately, you will know you are on the right track in life when you become disinterested in looking back, and eager to take the next step.

7. Let go of your tendency to avoid problems. - You cannot change what you refuse to confront.

8. Let go of life's little annoyances. - Don't let dumb little things break your happiness. Frustration and stress come from the way you react, not the way things are. Adjust your attitude, and the frustration and stress is gone.

9. Let go of assuming other people are more "normal" than you. - The only normal people you know are the ones you don't know very well.  Period.

10. Let go acting standoffish and unapproachable. - We all need to learn to be more human. Don't avoid eye contact. Don't hide behind gadgets.  Smile often. Ask about people's stories. Listen.

11. Let go of the idea that some people are below you. - Even if you've worked really hard to get to where you are in life, there's no such thing as a self-made person.  Someone believed, encouraged, and invested in you. Be grateful and be that someone for others too. That goes around eventually comes around.  No one has ever made themselves strong in the long run by showing how small someone else is. So don't be lazy and make assumptions about people. Ask about their story. Then listen. Be humble. Be teachable. Be human. Be a good neighbor.

12. Let go of the idea that you are what you physically own. - You are an incredible human being who's entirely detached from what you have physically acquired in this world. Remember to remain humble.  Ultimately, two things define you more than anything else: Your patience when you have very little, and your attitude when you have more than enough.

13. Let go of wanting stuff you don't need. - Don't think of cost.  Think of value. And remember, it's always easier to find wealth by needing less, instead of making more and more and more.  (Read The Total Money Makeover.)

14. Let go of seeking happiness from outside yourself. - In life, you have to create your own sunshine. Happiness starts from within. So read something positive every morning and do something positive before you go back to sleep. Keep your focus on all the positive possibilities and opportunities, and you will feel great. Feel great, and you will do great things.

15. Let go of wanting to be repaid of every good deed you do. - Don't worry too much about what's in it for you.  If you're making a positive contribution to others, there's always something in it for you.  You were born with the ability to change someone's life.  Don't ever waste it. Be kind. Be present.  Be someone who makes a difference.

16. Let go of all the little white lies and charades. - How do you build credibility? It's not rocket science. Be honest. Follow through. Honor your promises. Say sorry when you screw up. Be the type of person you want to meet and spend time with. Be the type of person whose actions, words and values always agree with each other.

17. Let go of any hypocrisy. - For instance, don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines.

18. Let go of putting everyone else's needs in front of your own. - Give as much as you can every day, but don't allow yourself to be used.  Listen to others closely, but don't lose your own voice.

19. Let go of fearing what your intuition is telling you to do. - Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. So don't let fear shut you down; let it wake you up. Do one thing every day that scares you. The more that you act on your intuition fearlessly, the more your intuition will serve you. If you genuinely feel something, pay attention.

20. Let go of waiting for the stars to align. - Remember, you don't always need the perfect plan. Sometimes you just need to give it a try, let go, and see what happens. Just do the best you can until you know better. Once you know better, do better.

21. Let go of the need to get everything done at once. - Keep going.  True purpose has no time limit. True purpose has no deadline. Don't stress and overwhelm yourself. Just do what you can right now.

22. Let go of the "all or nothing" mentality regarding success. - Appreciate the grey area between the extremes of success and failure - the journey, the process, the path - what you're learning, how you're helping others learn too, and the growing process you allow yourself to participate in. And above all, never let success get to your head or failure get to your heart.

23. Let go of criticizing yourself. - Nobody is inspired by your misery or self-deprecating comments.  If you wish to inspire yourself and others, be joyful. Have fun. Love yourself. Forgive yourself. Accept yourself.  Be unapologetically YOU.

24. Let go of those who say you aren't attractive enough. - More women worldwide are suffering from anorexia and bulimia than are fighting breast cancer. There are similar statistics for men too. Love yourself the way you are, because you are beautiful just the way you are.

25. Let go of changing just to impress people. - Change because it makes you a better person and leads you to a brighter future. Change because you know it's the right thing to do for YOU.

26. Let go of needing everyone to like you. - Everyone doesn't need to like you, and some people won't no matter what you do. Try not to take the things these people say about you personally.  What they think and say is a reflection of them, not you.

27. Let go of all negative influences.  Period. - You can't expect to feel good if you surround yourself with negativity.  Be with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you.

28. Let go of thinking that giving up the wrong things (and relationships) means failure. - Giving up and moving on are two very different things.

29. Let go of the idea that it's too late to start over and get it right. - Remember, it's always better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of the one you don't.

30. Let go of putting things off for one more day. - Stop procrastinating.  Stop wishing for it and start working for it. Do what you have to do today so you can do what you truly want to do, and be where you truly want to be, tomorrow.

Afterthoughts
Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go, but rather learning to start over in certain areas of your life. This is a challenge all of us face.  If you're struggling with any of the points above, there is a clear path to the new beginning you seek. Your present habits are simply broken and need to be mended. When you trust a broken set of habits every day, it's only a matter of time before you feel broken too.

It doesn't have to be this way though. You can make adjustments starting today that will instantly help you feel better, think more clearly, and live more effectively.  
There is never a guarantee of tomorrow, so show the love now.

I hope you had a great great holiday weekend. What a beautiful spring weekend :)

Lots of great things are happening as we welcome the longer and warmer days of spring into FSO. 

We have worked together to build great momentum and are on the way to bigger and better things. Better infrastructure leading to better results, client satisfaction and more business opportunities. This all happened because of you – because each one of you care deeply about FSO and our customers.  Your professionalism, dedication and commitment are an inspiration to me and I have shared this feedback with many of you, both at HQ and in the field.

The most important thing about our business is our people (YOU). We believe the winning recipe to ensure that our clients are WOW!ed and love FSO, is to hire brilliant people, train & empower them, and recognize & reward them. And, last week was a great example of our commitment to this! We re-launched the monthly CHO Club (and it was an awesome event) and will have our first MIT management training session this Tuesday that will be led by Me! My sincerest congratulations and THANK YOU to everyone who was recognized....we are counting on our employees and YOU made a difference! Great job.

I am a strong believer in the power of positive energy. I have seen both in my personal and professional life that you can achieve great success and overcome adversity by finding positive aspect in every situation. As we head into the week, I ask each of you to take a moment to self reflect. Does your team know about all of the GREAT things that are happening at FSO? Do they know about all of the opportunities that are available for them to feel how valued they are to me and the entire ELT? Are you taking the time to talk and listen to your team? Are you training your team? Are you making it PERSONAL? Are you sharing this feedback with your director, the PSTeam, the ELT? 

We are here for you...you have tons of support. Strong communications team - this is the key to our success!  FSO is a company that is all about coming up with the best possible solution to best support our clients. If you have an idea, share your idea! Look to grow with the company! Do not be afraid to take the leaps necessary to help this organization grow—it will in turn help you grow as well.

Inspire ME Friday: Motivating Our Best Employees

"Change is good. You go first."


Knowing how to motivate your employees will allow you to build a team that is as passionate about success as you are.

Dave Lavinsky is on fire again in the GrowThink Newsletter with a spot-on piece about motivating employees. He writes:

Entrepreneurs must have many skills. They must be able to spot opportunities. They must be able to create plans to seize those opportunities. And they must execute on those plans.

And, for most opportunities, and clearly for those opportunities that are really big, execution involves hiring and managing employees. Because no single entrepreneur can do everything themselves.

But you just can't have any employees. Companies that succeed have employees that are highly motivated.

So how do you ensure that your employees are motivated to succeed?

Clearly, giving them fair salaries helps. And clearly, stock options that allow employees to benefit when the company benefits are good practice.

But, there is an even better way. In fact, authors Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton in their book, The Carrot Principle, found a better way.

Where did they come up with this better way? Well, they conducted a study involving 200,000 people over a ten-year period.

Importantly, their study showed that the key characteristic of the most successful entrepreneurial managers is that they provide their employees with frequent and effective recognition.

That's right, significantly better business results were realized when managers offered recognition in the form of constructive praise and meaningful rewards (typically non-monetary).

The authors found that recognition is most effective when it is:

==> Positive (don't mention any negatives when giving praise)
==> Immediate (comes soon after the job well done)
==> Close (presented to employee(s) with their peers in attendance)
==> Specific (precisely recognizes why the task/job they performed merited recognition)
==> Shared (allows employee's peers to also comment during the recognition presentation)

Carrots are needed to motivate employees. But what I found most interesting about the author's findings was that recognition is more effective than monetary rewards. This is a critical finding for all managers, and particularly entrepreneurial managers who typically operate in cash-restrained environments.

Knowing how to motivate your employees will allow you to build a team that is as passionate about success as you are. And this will ultimately lead to your company achieving its goals. So, while it may not seem like a mission-critical focus today, it's definitely worth your time and effort. So don't delay...
